How to unstage all deleted files in Git

Have you deleted an entire directory in your git repository? And you just want to remove the deleted files from git staging area all in one go. Without tediously typing possibly hundreds of paths for each deleted file. Here is a quick tip.

Just use this command. git add -u. Next time you do git status the deleted files and directories would have been removed from the staging area and not be tracked.
